Welcome to Pest Quest Season 2

Observe the pill bug in all its glory (or at least its preferred habitat). In this experiment, you will create a controlled environment - a pill bug habitat. Then you'll select different changes to test to determine the pill bug's idea of an optimal habitat.

Difficulty: This pill bug experiment is rated as Easy Difficulty and is suggested for Kindergarten (with adult supervision) to Fourth Grade.

Time Required: One week or longer

Cost: Minimal - most materials are readily found in many home kitchens

Safety: Pill bugs are safe and ideal for scientific investigation. They do not bite. They are not known to transmit disease to humans.

Time of Year: Spring or summer for outdoor observations

Material Availability: Most materials are readily available in your home. Pill bugs can be found in your backyard under leaf litter or logs. They can also be ordered and delivered by mail during winter months.
