3-D Ladybug

3D Ladybug - Critter Crafts: Insect Craft Activities for Elementary Students

With only a few quick steps and pieces of construction paper, you can make a 3-D Ladybug that your parents will actually allow in the house!

Materials

  • small or large paper plates
  • black and red construction paper
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • glue
  • optional: googly eyes or white paper

Directions

  1. Trace a small or large plate onto the red paper
  2. Cut 4 equal sized slits on the edge of the circle towards the center (think of a clock— cut a slit at 12, 3, 6,9)*
  3. Fold the cuts inward to create a “bowl shape” and staple them together
  4. Trace the same plate on a piece of black paper
  5. Cut the black circle in a little less than half, and then cut a moon shape along the straight edge of the circle (this is the head of your ladybug)*
  6. Glue the head to the 3-D red body
  7. Glue googly eyes or white paper circles on the ladybug’s head
  8. Cut and paste 5 or 6 black circles on the body of the ladybug for spots*

*Adults should help young children with these steps
